MEMBER MOMENTS: MGB Receives Mega Gift from Auto Magnate
Mass General Brigham, the parent company of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), has received a $100 million donation from automobile dealer Herb Chambers.
As reported by the Boston Globe this week, the donation will result in the East Tower of the Phillip and Susan Ragon Building to be named the Herb Chambers Tower. It will house MGH’s new cancer center.
The 1.1 million square-foot MGH expansion consists of two towers that will add 482 single-bed rooms to the hospital.
The billionaire auto dealer Chambers, 83, said of his donation, “I’m thinking that we can make a difference. Eventually, there will be a cure for cancer. There has to be.”
