Southcoast Health’s President and CEO David McCready, in the job since the beginning of the year, sat down for an in-depth interview with The New Bedford Light this week.

In the interview, McCready talked frankly about the “not quite fair” reimbursements his hospitals are receiving from commercial health insurance companies. He discussed Southcoast’s initial interest in acquiring the former Steward Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, and how that will affect Southcoast going forward. And he gave some personal insight into his background and how he got into the healthcare field.

“This Southcoast region is definitely Massachusetts, and I say that very positively, with all the blessings that we have in this commonwealth,” McCready told reporter Joanna McQuillan Weeks. “But there’s something really quite unique about this region that’s frankly very warm and appealing to me.”
