Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association MEMBER MOMENTS: Cape Cod Healthcare Celebrates Apprenticeship Success
Cape Cod Healthcare was joined by elected officials, labor leaders, and Secretary of Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development Lauren Jones on Thursday as it recognized the first graduates of its nursing assistant and phlebotomy apprenticeship programs.
The system partnered with 1199SEIU to offer the apprentice programs starting in the fall of 2022, with a central goal of allowing aspiring professionals to “earn and learn.” A total of 13 professionals completed the inaugural programs and are now being placed in jobs.
“At the end of the day, what makes our commonwealth tick? It’s truly the people,” said Jones. “Their talent really helps businesses and institutions like this hospital thrive and our community thrive. We want to make sure we are paving more ways for people to gain opportunity.”
