MHA Comment on the 2024 Presidential Election
from MHA President & CEO, Steve Walsh
“We recognize that voters have spoken on the future of our country’s highest office. At the same time, we recognize that this is a frightening time for our healthcare institutions and many of the most vulnerable in our communities. Reproductive rights, the fate of insurance access, and the funding of major healthcare programs are among the enormous issues that hang in the balance. These are some of the very pillars we have built to support healthcare for 335 million people.
“But we also need to be clear: if there are threats to patients’ basic rights, we will fight those challenges each and every time. For every piece of misinformation, we will stand ready with the facts. And if there are attempts to divide our nation on matters of science, we are committed to being a unifying force for what is real. Massachusetts is tremendously fortunate to have a strong set of leaders – both at the local and national level – to help us continue this mission.
“MHA and our members believe that healthcare is an unalienable right. Its fate begins in our daily actions as leaders and caregivers, and extends all the way to the decisions made on Capitol Hill. Through it all, Massachusetts hospitals and health systems will make their voices heard on behalf of the patients who rely on their care and humanity each day.”
