MHA Comment on the 2023 HPC Benchmark Hearing

From President & CEO Steve Walsh
“MHA and our members remain fully committed to a strong cost growth benchmark. But as we stated at today’s hearing, the current approach was simply not designed for this new era of healthcare and is in need of modernization. A benchmark that cannot reflect the biggest cost drivers for the healthcare system is not a benchmark that can best serve the needs of patients. We believe this is an important opportunity to refresh the mechanics of the model so that it can be a meaningful tool for the next decade and help us address cost trends in real-time. We look forward to our continued work with the HPC and partners across healthcare on all issues of access and affordability.”
